VMZ Dexter
What is VMZ Dexter for roofing?
This patented, ribbed and pre-formed roofing system is an innovative new roofing concept. The VMZ Dexter elements allow rapid installation without the use of heavy mechanised tools. This significantly reduces the installation time on the standard part of the roof.
Surface aspects: QUARTZ-ZINC / ANTHRA-ZINC

Characteristics of this technique
VMZ Dexter elements are assembled longitudinally by simply locking the sides of the elements into one another. No seaming is required. The transverse joints can be staggered or aligned.
VMZ Dexter in VMZ Zinc Plus is installed on minimum 19 mm plywood (roofing), 15 mm (cladding).
An anti abrasive building paper (i.e. Tyveck) must be laid between VMZ Zinc Plus and plywood.
A 40 mm continuous ventilation gap must be left clear beneath the plywood.
Air inlets and outlets shall be provided at both top and bottom.

Climates
| Low altitude | no restriction |
| Mountain areas | supplementary waterproofing necessary and double ventilation according to the technical regulations in force |
| All windy regions | increase the number of sliding clips at the roof edges in exposed area. Please consult VMZINC |
Support
The support must be :
- Rigid and continuous.
- Meet loading requirements in conformity with a minimum pull out strength of 50daN for each clip.
- have no protruding elements on the support.
Laying the panel:

VMZ Dexter panels are laid from bottom to the top in parallel vertical rows on the roof or facade. |

When placed in position, each VMZ Dexter needs to be fixed immediately at the top by a sheet clip inserted into the centre of the safety fold. The side clips are put in place during or after a complete vertical row has been laid. Two clips are fixed every 417 mm for 2 clips along the side with the oblique fold. At the eaves, the spacing between the first two clips is 352 mm for 2 clips. The first side clip is positioned at the eaves 185 mm from the base of the first VMZ Dexter. |

Insert the hem at the base of the upper VMZ Dexter into the single welt of the lower VMZ Dexter and push forward. |
Clips
Role of the side clip: Ensuring the mechanical resistance of the entire roof.
Fixing clips supplied by VMZINC are 300-series stainless steel clips. The clip is pre-punched with counter-sunk holes for attachment. Designed to withstand negative load requirements. 2 clips on the upstand of each element.
Sheet clips from VMZINC to fix top of element to the deck.
Design professional and installer to confirm the hole pull and rupture performance for all fastener and clip combinations during the submittal process.
Design consideration - Junction
The elements are assembled longitudinally by simply locking the sides of the elements into one another.
The elements are assembled transversally using double-welt joints.
The transverse joints overlap by 158 mm and the side with the rounded profile has a 200-mm zone where the profile narrows to facilitate overlapping.
The VMZ Dexter system is laid from the right end to the left end like roofing tiles.
The transverse joints can be staggered or aligned.
